Toronto police are alerting the public after a 25-year-old woman was sexually assaulted while walking home in the city’s downtown.

Police said the assault occurred near Spadina Avenue and College Street on Thursday around 1:30 a.m.

The woman was walking north on Spadina when she noticed a man was walking closely behind her.

At Spadina Crescent and Russell Street, the woman moved to the side to allow the man to pass her, but he sexually assaulted her, police said in a news release.

The male is black, about 20 years old, and five-foot-six to five-foot-eight with a medium build, police said.
