A woman has died after a serious collision shut down the Toronto-bound QEW at Centennial Parkway, near Hamilton Monday evening.
Police said a pickup truck travelling towards Fort Erie on the QEW lost one of its tires near Centennial Parkway around 7 p.m.
The tire smashed into the windshield of a car travelling towards Toronto.
The female driver of the car was transported to hospital with vital signs absent. She was later pronounced dead.
Police estimate the Toronto-bound QEW will remain closed between Centennial Parkway and Burlington Street until midnight.
