A toddler who was not dressed for the weather was found wandering alone near a busy Scarborough street.

Police said the boy, who is believed to be between two and three years old, was found in the area of Kennedy and Danforth Roads on Friday morning, at approximately 6:30 a.m.

The boy was dressed in a light top, pants and shoes, and was not wearing a jacket, though the temperature was 7 C at the time.

He was examined by paramedics at the scene. Police said he was cold, but not injured.

A neighbour walked by while the boy was warming up in a police cruiser, and told officers he recognized the child. He went to the family's home and found the mother.

Accompanied by his mother, the boy was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

A police sergeant told reporters that the boy's grandmother left for work early, and must not have locked the door properly. No charges will be laid.
