The University of Toronto is ranked the 20th university in the world, according to a list published Tuesday.

U of T received an overall score of 92.4 per cent, just ahead of Montreal's McGill University, according to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings. The score puts U of T in the 20th spot, compared to 2013 when it was ranked 17th.

The annual list published by British QS gave Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) a perfect score of 100, putting the school in first place for the third year in a row. Rounding out the top three are the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London, both in the United Kingdom.
