Police have released an updated security image of two males sought in connection with a rash of robberies in the city’s downtown core in August.

The charges stem from several incidents that took place on Aug. 27 between 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. near Yonge and Dundas streets.

According to police, three men and a 17-year-old boy surrounded several people and robbed them of their personal items.

In some of the robberies, one of the men allegedly brandished a handgun.

On Aug. 28, police arrested one man and one teenager in connection with the incidents but indicated that two suspects are still outstanding.

In a news release issued Monday, police released an “updated” security camera image that more clearly shows two suspects who remain outstanding in the investigation.

A suspect identified as 20-year-old Mississauga resident Darian Rodriquez was charged with more than 20 offences including five counts of robbery with a firearm, four counts of carry a concealed weapon, four counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace and four counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

A 17-year-old Mississauga resident, who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), has been charged with a total of 26 offences including five counts of robbery with a firearm, seven counts of failure to comply with the YCJA disposition and five counts of use of a firearm to commit an indictable offence.

Police also said a replica handgun was allegedly found following an investigation.

Anyone with information about the outstanding suspects is being asked to call police at 416-808-5200 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
