Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is expected to speak about an uptown streetscaping proposal Tuesday morning, before it goes before council for debate later in the day. The soggy weather is expected to continue in Toronto, but that will likely not dampen the spirits of soccer enthusiasts this afternoon when Brazil plays Germany in the World Cup semi-finals.

The sunshine is not expected to make an appearance today. Environment Canada says there will be increasing cloudiness followed by a few showers or thunderstorms beginning in the afternoon. The mercury will reach a high of 27 C, except near Lake Ontario, where the temperature is expected to reach a high of 22 C.

Another full day of debate at city council

After appointing new councillors to the Trinity-Spadina and Etobicoke-Lakeshore seats, council will return to city hall Tuesday morning for another full day of debate.

Ahead of another full work day at city hall, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is expected to speak about the Eglinton Connects plan at 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West and Westover Hill Road. The plan calls for the creation of a "boulevard" along Eglinton Avenue, where the future Crosstown LRT will be completed in 2020. The item is expected to be debated by council later in the day.

The revamped streetscape on Eglinton would include bike lanes, widened pedestrian pathways, and a reduced lane for vehicular traffic.

Three people injured in overnight shooting

Three people are in hospital with serious injuries after being wounded in a shooting Tuesday morning on Flemington Road, near Lawrence Avenue West and Allen Road.

Police said they are looking for multiple suspects.

Durham Region and striking union reach tentative deal

The union representing about 1,600 inside workers who have been on strike for nearly three weeks have reached a tentative deal with Durham Region to possibly bring an end to the labour dispute.

CUPE Local 1764 members will take part in a ratification vote today.

TRAFFIC

Motorists hoping to navigate around the city’s ongoing construction projects may now be able to do so with more ease. The City of Toronto has released a new online map showing where road construction projects are taking place.

SPORTS

Jays play Angels: The slumping Toronto Blue Jays will play the Los Angeles Angels again at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim in California. The game is expected to start at 10:05 p.m. ET.

World Cup action: The 2014 World Cup is down to the last four teams: Argentina, Netherlands, Germany and host Brazil. The first of the semi-final games will take place on Tuesday, when Germany plays Brazil at 4 p.m. ET.
