Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has been released from hospital and is at home resting after being hospitalized for kidney stones.

Adrienne Batra, Ford's press secretary, said he was admitted into a Toronto hospital Thursday morning to be treated.

Ford has been booked to see a urologist on Friday regarding the stone, which is between five and six millimeters in size.

She said Ford was in meetings at City Hall Wednesday night when it started bothering him.

Batra said Ford was "still returning phone calls, he is still talking to constituents and he is still open for business.

"For anyone who has had kidney stones, it can be kind of painful, but I can assure you that this is nothing serious and it is being treated," she said.

Batra said they would not need to consider transferring temporary power to deputy mayor Doug Holyday.
