A 17-year-old Toronto boy has been charged in connection with a brazen daylight shooting in Etobicoke that left two students dead.

Zaid Athir Youssef, 17, and Michael Menjivar, 15, were gunned down on Oct. 6 near the School of Experiential Learning, located in the Dixon Road and Islington Avenue area. Both teens were students at nearby Catholic high schools.

The lunchtime shooting prompted a temporary lockdown of schools in the area as police searched for the suspects.

On Tuesday, police arrested a teen in connection with the shootings. The arrest comes after police released eight images of persons of interest who they believe may have information that could aid in the homicide investigation.

The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, faces six charges including attempted murder and pointing a firearm.

He made a court appearance Wednesday morning for a bail hearing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222- TIPS (8477).
