Two suspicious packages discovered in High Park Saturday morning have been “proven safe,” police say.

An Emergency Task Force has cleared out of the west-end park after carrying out controlled explosions after the packages were discovered along a bike path near Parkside Drive around 10 a.m.

Police briefly halted traffic on the Gardiner Expressway, the Queensway and nearby rail lines as the ETF dealt with the packages.

Police said in a news release late Saturday evening that the packages were “proven safe” and there would be no further disruptions to roads or rail lines.

Earlier Saturday evening, Cst. Wendy Drummond told CTVNews.ca that police were unable to determine what the packages were upon arrival, so they detonated them as a precaution.

It is not clear what the packages contained.
