Toronto police are searching for two suspects believed to be connected to a downtown steakhouse shooting.

Police told reporters they're looking for two people who wore masks to disguise themselves during the shooting, which took place at Michael's on Simcoe steakhouse Sunday. Officers said it appeared that the victims were targeted by the shooters.

Officers were called to the high-end restaurant at 100 Simcoe St., just south of Adelaide Street West, at approximately 10 p.m. When they arrived, they found two people in their 20s who had been injured.

One of the victims, a 28-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition. Her injuries have since been downgraded to non-life-threatening.

The other, a 29-year-old man, was treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the neck.

Both victims are expected to survive.

The restaurant's owner, Michael Dabic, issued a statement on Monday saying two "hooded men" entered the restaurant and made a "beeline" for a couple seated in the dining room. He said the couple was sitting at the back of the restaurant at the time.

"Michael's on Simcoe is shocked and saddened at the violence that occurred at our family-run restaurant," Dabic said in the statement.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the couple involved in the targeted shooting and we wish them both a speedy recovery."

Initially, police said they were looking for a single suspect, but officers on scene later said they were searching for two people. Suspect descriptions have yet to be released, but Det. Paul Ward said they were wearing masks at the time.

Detectives said they are reviewing security footage shot inside the restaurant at the time. They're also canvassing the area in search of witnesses and other security camera footage.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with more information is asked to contact police at 416-808-5200, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-8477 (TIPS).
