A 31-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly ripping off a turban from another man’s head in the city’s downtown core.

The victim was sitting in Yonge-Dundas Square with his family last night when a man approached him from behind and allegedly wrenched the turban off his head.

Police said the suspect hurled derogatory comments at the victim before he fled the area.

Thanks to the help of several witnesses, police said a suspect was apprehended shortly after.

A suspect identified as Robin Kelly Skani, of no fixed address, has been charged with one count of assault.

He was expected to make an appearance in court at Old City Hall sometime today.
