A police pursuit Friday morning ended with a crash that sent two males to hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police were pursuing the Audi after it was seen travelling at a high-rate of speed near King Street West and Bathurst Street. The vehicle eventually crashed near Portland and Richmond streets when it collided with two other vehicles and ended up on its roof at around 2:50 a.m..

The two men remain at St. Michael's Hospital -- one with serious internal injuries.

Police say that it is too early to say whether alcohol may have been a factor.

The Special Investigations Unit later invoked its mandate and said they are looking into the circumstances of the collision.

The SIU is a provincial agency that investigates each time a civilian is seriously injured or killed while in the presence of police.

The SIU has assigned one subject officer and one witnesses officer to conduct the investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information is being asked to call the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
