A woman who died after falling six storeys from a North York apartment balcony last week is being remembered as a loving mother who had a "hug for everybody."

Mimi Luong, 30, was seriously injured when she landed on a glass awning that extends from a building located in the area of Allen Road and Sheppard Avenue West at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 20.

Police say Luong was brought back to her apartment on the sixth floor by her boyfriend, who didn't live with her. She was later rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries, police confirmed on Friday.

Luong, who was a community service worker, leaves behind a young son.

"She always spoke highly of him," said Deborah Jules, a friend and supervisor at Christie Ossington Neighbourhood Centre. She said Luong had an easy-going personality and she will be missed at the west-end site.

"She was one of those people you would meet and instantly fall in love with," Jules said. "If you saw her interact with the seniors -- it was amazing. She had a hug for everybody."

A video from May obtained exclusively by CTV Toronto shows Luong's boyfriend and estranged husband involved in a fist fight in the lobby of the building from which Luong fell. The two men had a violent relationship, CTV News learned last week.

According to neighbours who didn't want to be identified, loud arguing could be heard from Luong’s condo prior to her fall.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the fall.
