ALLISTON, Ont. -- A New Tecumseth man is facing additional charges in connection with the death of a road worker in the community northwest of Toronto.

Provincial police say Geoffrey Gaston, 41, also of New Tecumseth, was painting traffic lines on a road in the town early Friday when he and another worker were struck by a pickup truck.

It's alleged that the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene of the collision but was later arrested following an investigation.

Gaston was taken to a Toronto-area hospital, where he died of his injuries, while the other worker -- a woman who has not been identified -- suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Marcello Fracassi, 31, was charged Friday with failing to remain at the scene of an accident and impaired driving causing bodily harm.

Police say he's now facing charges of impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death.
