Canadian rapper Snow dropped in on Rob Ford's office at city hall Thursday afternoon to inform him that he is a fan of the mayor.

The Toronto rapper, whose real name is Darrin O'Brien, met briefly with Ford to express his support. He said that because the mayor has always made an effort to help the people in the community where he grew up, he wanted to return the favour.

"I grew up in Allenberry (Gardens), a housing project," O'Brien told CP24 on Thursday. "I know he's done a lot for the people who have been there, especially in my community. The people just love him in there."

The 44-year-old rapper, who is best known for his 1992 hit "Informer," caused a bit of an online stir after showing up at city hall.

While O'Brien admits he doesn't follow municipal politics, he believes Ford is "the best mayor" Toronto has ever had.

"I'm not really into politics. I don’t know too much – the left wing, the right wing – I don’t know that stuff. But if he’s doing good for my people… I’m here to support him."

This is not the first time Ford has received a celebrity endorsement. In April, Canadian Olympic sprinter Ben Johnson and "Trailer Park Boys" actor Sam Tarasco also showed up at the mayor's office to pledge their support.
