York Regional Police are searching for a man they named as a suspect in a double stabbing that left one man dead and another injured in Vaughan late Wednesday night.

Police say officers were called to a public dispute on the street outside 37 Colombo Cres., near Jane Street and Teston Road, shortly before midnight.

One of the victims, Muzaffar Goraya, was walking with his friend when he got into an argument with a woman near his family home, police said.

Another man stepped in and Goraya and his friend were stabbed during the dispute.

Goraya, 22, was found lying in the street without vital signs with stab wounds to the chest.

His friend, a 27-year-old man, was found on the front lawn with injuries to his abdomen.

Both victims were rushed to Sunnybrook hospital, where Goraya was pronounced dead.

His friend has serious injuries, but is expected to survive.

By Thursday afternoon, police identified a suspect in the stabbing. They said they are searching for 28-year-old Nema Mansouri.

Mansouri is described as a Middle Eastern male with a medium build and short black hair, brown eyes and a goatee.

Outside Goraya’s family home, a stream of visitors came and went throughout the day, offering their condolences to the young man’s mother, father, brother and three sisters.

Goraya’s uncle, Naseer Goraya, spoke to CTV Toronto’s Tamara Cherry, saying the family was stunned that such a tragedy could happen to a nice young man.

“Everybody is so shocked,” he said. “Particularly his father, he cannot even get up.”

Goraya was almost finished the business program at Humber College and had dreams of becoming a police officer.

“He was a very nice boy. Very helpful, to everyone,” said his uncle.
