A police officer was injured in a two-vehicle collision near Fairview Mall on Wednesday.
The crash happened in the area of Don Mills Road and Sheppard Avenue East shortly before 6:30 p.m. Police say the officer is conscious and breathing. He was taken to a local trauma centre with what's believed to be serious injuries.
Police say it's unclear what led to the collision. According to Sgt. Paul Strangeways, the injured officer was responding to a call when his cruiser and the other vehicle collided.
Police say the driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital. The extent of the driver's injuries are not known at this time.
Police have closed Fairview Mall Drive and Don Mills Road at Sheppard Avenue East as they investigate the crash.
