Police have arrested and charged a suspect wanted in connection with an armed sexual assault that took place in downtown Toronto in December.

Investigators allege that on Dec. 11, an 18-year-old woman was walking in the area of Yonge and Carlton Streets when she was approached by a man armed with a knife.

The man allegedly sexually assaulted and robbed her before fleeing the area.

Police released a photo of the suspect on Monday.

On Tuesday, officers arrested 18-year-old Farrukh Noor Mohammad of Toronto.

Mohammad is facing six charges, including sexual assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and robbery.

None of the charges against him have been proven in court.
