A 51-year-old employee of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union has been charged in connection with alleged sexual assaults in or near the union’s head office in North York.

Investigators say three women have come forward, alleging they were sexually assaulted by a man in the building, located at 100 Lesmill Road, in the area of Leslie Street and York Mills Road.

In a statement released Wednesday, police said the incidents occurred between March of 2011 and March of 2015.

Donald Ford of Barrie, Ont., has been charged with 12 counts of sexual assault.

OPSEU president Warren Thomas confirmed in a statement Thursday that Ford was a “long-term” employee in the union’s communications division.

Thomas said the union first learned of allegations of “inappropriate conduct” by Ford in late spring of this year.

“At that time, Mr. Ford was immediately removed from the workplace and suspended,” Thomas said. “His employment with OPSEU has since been terminated following an internal investigation.”

None of the charges against Ford have been proven in court.
