EAST GARAFRAXA, Ont. -- Ontario's provincial police are warning residents of a community northwest of Toronto to be on the lookout for bears.

Police say a mother bear and two cubs were spotted Tuesday afternoon on a farm in East Garafraxa.

OPP say anyone who sees the bears should give them plenty of room, allowing them to continue their activities undisturbed and move away quickly and quietly.

Police say people being pursued by a bear should throw something onto the ground -- other than food -- in an attempt to distract it long enough to escape.
