One person is in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Milton, police say.

The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of the highway near James Snow Parkway at approximately 5:30 p.m.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said a vehicle struck the median on the highway. A tractor trailer and another vehicle were also involved in crash.

Schmidt initially said one person was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but on Tuesday, police said the person is expected to survive.

Two other people suffered minor injuries during the accident.

The cause of the collision is not immediately clear.

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 at James Snow Parkway were closed as crews responded to the accident, but have since reopened.
