One person was killed and three others injured following a serious multi-vehicle collision involving a dump truck near the University of Guelph-Humber Tuesday afternoon.

The accident, which involved two cars and a dump truck, occurred near Highway 27 and Humber College Boulevard just before 2 p.m.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Three others were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision was not immediately clear.

Highway 27 was closed in both directions between Humber College Boulevard and Queens Plate Drive for several hours.

It reopened shortly after 9 p.m.
