A man in his 20s died early Sunday when his vehicle collided with a hydro pole in the city's east end.

The incident happened at about 4 a.m. on Broadview Avenue, south of Withrow Avenue. Police said the man was driving southbound on Broadview when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a hydro pole.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

A section of Broadview was closed Sunday morning between Withrow and Riverdale Avenue for the police investigation.

The closure also forced southbound TTC streetcar routes to turn back at Gerrard Avenue. Shuttle buses will be operating until the area is re-opened at noon.
