A Newmarket woman has been charged with multiple offences, including impaired driving, months after she was involved in a two-car crash that killed a 26-year-old man.

The crash happened on Green Lane at Main Street North shortly before 9 p.m. on Jan. 17.

The man who was driving the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 35-year-old woman facing charges was driving the second vehicle. She was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The woman’s twin 13-year-old daughters and a 12-year-old girl were also in the car at the time of the crash. They were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said in a news release Friday that the woman had been arrested earlier this week in connection with the crash.

Tara Gawlik faces nine charges, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and over 80 mgs causing death.

She is scheduled to appear in court on April 7.
