MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Police say a missing Toronto-area boy who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found safe.

Investigators issued the alert this morning in their search for an eight-year-old boy from Mississauga, who they believed was taken by his mother.

Peel Region police spokesman Sgt. Matt Small says the boy was found in a vehicle in Vaughan, north of Toronto.

He says the boy "is OK" and will be reunited with his father as soon as possible.

The boy had last been seen Sunday morning when his father dropped him off at his mother's residence in Mississauga.

Police believed the mother had fled the jurisdiction with her son. They said the mother doesn't have custody of the boy, and isn't able to take proper care of him.
