A missing Newmarket man’s friends in England have made a video appealing for the 26-year-old to “let them know he’s safe.”

Jonathan Adams was last heard from at around 2 p.m. on June 28 , when he was believed to be in the area of Bathurst Street and Keith Avenue in Newmarket. Adams played for the Blackburn Hawks two years ago, a team in Lancashire, England, just north of Manchester.

Members of his former hockey team said they decided to put a video together appealing for him to come home when they heard news of his disappearance.

“Hey Jon buddy, we don’t know if these messages work, but if you get a chance to see this, I want to let you know I miss you and I love you so much buddy, let’s hope you get home soon, lad,” one friend says.

“We understand if you want to get away for a bit, that’s fine, but just try and let someone know you’re all right,” another friend says.

CTVNews.ca spoke with the current captain of the Hawks, Chris Arnone, who describes Adams as a “nice guy” who is “passionate about hockey.”

“I don’t think you could find anyone to say a bad word about him,” Arnone said, “he slid right in with the guys.”

York region police continue to search for Adams and have set up a command post in the area.

Police say they have located Adams’ vehicle and say they’re increasingly concerned about his well-being but don't suspect foul play.

Adams is described as male, white, 26-years-old, 5’ 11”, medium build, light brown hair with green eyes.

He was last seen wearing a navy blue shirt.
