TORONTO - The Ontario government has appointed Gord Miller to a third term as the province's environmental commissioner.

Miller has been Ontario's environmental watchdog since 2000.

He was one of three people who had been asked to compete for their jobs when the government decided not to renew their contracts earlier this year.

The others were ombudsman Andre Marin and integrity commissioner Lynn Morrison.

But Marin is the only one who hasn't been recommended for reappointment, sparking accusations the Liberal government is trying to silence one of its most outspoken critics.
