Two armed men disguised as construction workers are being sought by police following a home invasion in Vaughan.
The incident took place on Jan. 14 when two men knocked on the door of a residence located in the Kirby Road and Keele Street area. The men showed the victim a piece of paper through the window.
A 41-year-old woman and a one-year-old infant were inside the house at the time. As the woman began to open the door, the suspects forced their way inside and demanded that the woman take them to a safe.
Police say they then assaulted the victim, took various items from the home and fled.
Neither the woman nor the infant were physically harmed.
Police describe both suspects as white men, aged 20- to 25 years-old, with Russian accents. They were wearing construction vests, and their vehicle is believed to be a four-door white SUV.
As a result of the incident, York Regional Police is reminding the public to be cautious of who they let into their home. If anything seems suspicious, they encourage residents to call them immediately.
“It’s better to be safe than sorry,” they said in a news statement. “Your call might make a difference.”
