A 62-year-old man is facing charges in connection with a string of sexual assaults aboard TTC buses in Markham.

Police say the investigation began on Nov. 1 after a 21-year-old woman reported that she was sexually assaulted on two occasions while riding TTC buses in Markham.

The woman told police that she had fallen asleep on a bus travelling in the south-end of Markham when she awoke to a man touching her inappropriately.

She alleges the same thing happened to her just a few days later.

After the second incident, she came forward to police with the allegations.

In the course of the investigation, police said they identified a second female victim who was allegedly sexually assaulted under similar circumstances.

On Nov. 3, police located and arrested a suspect in relation to the case.

Vishnu Roche, 62, of Markham has been charged with three counts of sexual assault.

He is scheduled to make an appearance in a Newmarket court on Nov. 30, 3016.
