A 19-year-old man is facing a number of charges after a woman was assaulted in Scarborough Village on Friday.
The incident took place near Parkcrest Drive and Kingston Road shortly after 3 p.m.
Toronto police were called to the area after receiving a report that a 20-year-old woman was being assaulted by the roadside.
As officers arrived on scene, a man fled the area on foot.
A suspect was arrested nearby a short time later.
Following a search, police allege they found a loaded firearm.
A suspect identified as Toronto resident Jahvon Nurse has been charged with nine offences including assault, unauthorized possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited device and possession of a loaded firearm.
He is scheduled to make an appearance in court at Old City Hall on Saturday.
