The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating following the death of a 51-year-old man who fell from a balcony in Scarborough Monday morning.

Police were called to an apartment building on Bonis Avenue, in the Sheppard Avenue East and Kennedy Road area, for reports of a domestic disturbance at around 10 a.m.

At the scene, police discovered a man armed with a knife, Toronto police Const. Wendy Drummond said.

At some point, the man fell from an apartment unit to the ground outside the building.

He was transported to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

His name has not been released.

The SIU has assigned five investigators and three forensic investigators to the case.
