ALFRED, Ont. -- Provincial police say a man is facing a murder charge in the death of a 41-year-old woman in eastern Ontario.

They say officers responding to a call about a weapons-related incident near Alfred, about 70 kilometres east of Ottawa, on Thursday found the body of Jacqueline Rouleau of Hawkesbury, Ont.

Investigators say several properties in Alfred-Plantagenet Township have been secured as they search for evidence related to the incident.

They have not said how Rouleau died, but say they do not believe domestic violence played a role in her death.

Daniel Lalonde, 61, of Alfred appeared in court on Friday charged with first-degree murder and has been remanded into custody.
