TORONTO -- A Toronto man is facing charges after police say a Ryerson University student was stabbed multiple times in the back and torso near the school's campus downtown.

Police say a 23-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon in connection with the Wednesday night incident, which took place on Gould Street near Yonge Street.

The 26-year-old male victim was rushed to hospital after paramedics found him with serious but non-life-threatening injuries at about 11 p.m.

No names are being released and police say another person arrested earlier was released without charges.

Police say the victim did not know his attacker and a verbal dispute may have led to the attack.

Toronto police are also investigating an unrelated stabbing Wednesday night involving a teenager who was found in the city's north end (in the Jane Street and Steeles Avenue West area) with stab wounds.

The teen's injuries are considered non-life-threatening and there is no word on a suspect.
