Toronto police are accusing a 50-year-old man of exposing himself to a young girl near St. Michael’s College.

The alleged incident happened on St. Mary Street, just west of Bay Street, at around 3 p.m. on Aug. 9.

A 12-year-old girl was walking in the area when she was approached by a man who exposed himself to her, police said.

The girl told police she then left the area but was followed by the man who allegedly proceeded to expose himself to her again.

On Wednesday, police arrested a suspect in connection with the case. Toronto resident William Douglas Shorten has been charged with two counts of indecent exposure to a person under 16, criminal harassment, invitation to sexual touching and four counts of failure to comply with probation.

He is scheduled to make an appearance in court on Sept. 1.
