PICKERING, Ont. - Police say a 19-year-old Pickering man was assaulted and robbed of his brand new iPhone 6 after trying to sell it on Kijiji.
The incident happened Sunday when police say the victim met with a man at a McDonald's restaurant and handed him the phone to be inspected.
It's alleged the suspect left with the phone, suggesting he would be right back with the money, and that when the victim followed him outside, he was punched repeatedly.
The suspect then fled on foot.
Police say people should be aware of the risks of reselling items through online advertisements, especially cellphones, which are increasingly the target of thieves.
