Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Gustavo Chacin was arrested early Friday morning in Florida for allegedly driving under the influence.

On Saturday, the team confirmed reports that first appeared on the SI.com and MLB.com websites.

Chacin was released from police custody after paying a $500 bond.

"He's entitled to due process," the Toronto Star reported general manager J.P. Ricciardi said Saturday. "We're going to try to work with him, not against him."

The 26-year-old pitcher was stopped in Tampa, Fla. at about 3:43 a.m. ET by local police.

Chacin's blood alcohol level allegedly measured .150, according to the MLB.com report and posted on the Blue Jays website. The legal level in Florida is .08.

He is expected to hold a spot in Toronto's starting rotation behind Roy Halladay and A.J. Burnett in the coming season. Chacin went 9-4 last season with a 5.05 earned-run average. He missed over two months of the season while dealing with elbow problems.

Chacin signed a one-year contract with the Blue Jays in March.  He has not made any comment about the charge.
