The Toronto police homicide unit is investigating the deaths of three people whose bodies were found in an apartment unit Saturday night.
Det. Tam Bui told reporters Sunday afternoon that officers are in the process of identifying the victims, and autopsies are scheduled for Monday.
A child, a teenager and an adult were found inside the apartment, located in Toronto's Thorncliffe Park neighbourhood, Toronto paramedics confirmed to CTV Toronto.
When officers arrived at the scene Saturday afternoon, they found three people without vital signs. They were pronounced dead on the scene.
An adult is also among the dead, CTV Toronto has been told. The third victim's age is unclear.
"We are treating this case very seriously," Bui said. "We are keeping an open mind and we are looking for any witnesses, anyone that might have heard something suspicious occurring here last night, or the night before."
Bui confirmed that the Toronto police traffic services unit is investigating a separate incident that prompted the closure of a section of the Don Valley Parkway for several hours on Saturday.
The body of a man was found on the busy highway Saturday afternoon, forcing the closure of the roadway while officers investigated.
The traffic services unit is investigating to see if there is any connection between that incident and the bodies that were discovered, Bui said.
"There is some correlation, but it is very non-tangible at this time," he said.
