HAMILTON, Ont. - The Crown says a man believed to be the first in Canada convicted of murder through HIV transmission has an abnormally high libido that could lead him to reoffend if he's eventually freed.

Crown attorney Karen Shea is making her closing submissions today in the case of Johnson Aziga.

The Crown is seeking to have Aziga designated a dangerous offender, which would see him jailed indefinitely.

Aziga was convicted in 2009 of two counts of first-degree murder, 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of attempted aggravated sexual assault.

His convictions are related to 11 women with whom he had unprotected sex without telling them he had HIV.

Seven of the women became infected, with two dying of AIDS-related cancers.

The defence will make its final arguments Wednesday in Hamilton.

Aziga is appealing the murder convictions. If he succeeds, he would be eligible for parole on the remaining convictions.
