Train service on GO Transit’s Kitchener line was disrupted after a freight train partially derailed in Brampton during Monday morning's commute.
Four derailed tanker cars blocked part of the tracks west of Bramalea GO Station, forcing GO Transit to reroute passenger trains to Union Station. There was no train service east of Bramalea GO Station.
Peel EMS says a CN Rail worker suffered minor injuries when the tankers went off the tracks near Steeles Avenue East and Advance Boulevard at about 6:50 a.m.
Police briefly closed Steeles Avenue as a precaution until crews inspected the derailed cars and determined they posed no threat to the public.
GO Transit says the tracks will be back in service before the afternoon commute and it does not anticipate any further delays.
