Pickering firefighters say a fire that broke out early Tuesday morning has completely destroyed a boarded-up, abandoned home in the city.

Firefighters were called to the property on Kingston Road between Altona Road and Rougemount Drive shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday.

A Pickering fire official told CP24 the house, which was abandoned at the time, was completely destroyed by flames. Toronto Firefighters came to help Pickering firefighters douse the flames.

Westbound traffic on Kingston Road will be restricted for much of the day as Durham Fire Prevention officers probe what started the fire.
