A woman believed to be in her 70s died Monday after she was struck by a vehicle in the city’s north end.

The accident happened in the Fairlawn Avenue and Elm Road area at approximately 3 p.m., Toronto police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, an 88-year-old woman, remained at the scene following the accident, police said.

The area was closed for several hours as police investigated.

Monday’s accident marked Toronto’s 21st pedestrian fatality.
