The Don Valley Parkway will be closed this weekend for regular spring maintenance.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, the DVP will be closed from Highway 401 to the Gardiner Expressway. It will reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday, in time for the Khalsa Parade.

The normally busy roadway will be closed due to the city’s annual spring maintenance activities.

During the closure maintenance crews will be completing:

  • resurfacing and patching of asphalt surfaces including crack sealing
  • in-depth bridge inspections
  • sign maintenance for entire length of roadway
  • inspection and repair of 73 overhead signs
  • guiderail repair at approximately 50 locations
  • inspection, repair and re-lamping of street lights
  • pre-engineering surveys for future work on the DVP
  • Motorists are being advised to give themselves extra time as alternative routes will be busy during this closure.

Motorists can use Don Mills Road, Bayview Avenue, Victoria Park Avenue and Kingston Road as alternative routes.

Officials are asking motorists to consider public transit as an alternative option.
