Two children and two parents were transported to hospital Friday evening after a multi-vehicle crash on the QEW in Mississauga.

Kerry Schmidt of the Ontario Provincial Police said a cargo van carrying 14 people rear-ended a Toyota Yaris which then hit a Ford Escape, which then hit another vehicle.

The Ford Escape was carrying two boys, ages 4 and 6, and their parents. All four went to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Schmidt.

The 52-year-old male driver of the cargo van has been charged with careless driving, Schmidt added.

Eastbound lanes of the QEW were temporarily shut at Winston Churchill Boulevard for the investigation.
