A dog that was found severely underweight in St. Catharines, Ont., earlier this year by the local animal shelter has found her "forever home."

Minnie, a French Mastiff cross-breed, was reported as a stray and picked up by the Lincoln County Humane Society on March 4. The four-legged animal was given immediate medical attention by staff at the shelter, and now appears to be at a healthy weight, according to a photo update posted to Twitter Wednesday.

The dog is expected to be picked up by her new owners on Thursday afternoon.

"Great News – MINNIE has found her forever home – going home tomorrow at 1 p.m," the tweet said. "Owners are excited – Staff are sad AND Happy!"

According to police, a man and a woman from the Niagara region were charged in March in connection with the emaciated dog.
