MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - A 23-year-old man from the Brantford area faces a string of charges following a high-speed chase that ended in Mississauga.

The chase began in Niagara Region when police began following a pickup truck suspected of being stolen earlier in St. Catharines.

A chase began along the Queen Elizabeth Way at about 5 p.m., but police pulled back in the Burlington area due to safety concerns.

In Mississauga, a provincial police cruiser got in front of the pickup, but the fleeing driver then struck the cruiser and a tractor-trailer.

Both the suspect and police officer were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Eastbound lanes of the QEW in Mississauga (at Hurontario St.) were closed until about 11 p.m.
