Bill Blair has earned the federal Liberal nomination in the Toronto-area riding of Scarborough Southwest.

The announcement was made on Saturday afternoon, at R.H. King Academy in Scarborough.

Blair said the members of his community are “ready for a change.”

“After 10 years, the people of our community and country have had enough of our current government and they are ready for Justin Trudeau.”

“I want to thank you all for your efforts to get us here,” Blair said to the crowd.

The riding is currently held by the New Democrats.

Blair retired in early April, after spending 10 years on the job as Toronto’s chief of police.
