COLBORNE, Ont. -- A 21-year-old man from Belleville, Ont., has died after a two-vehicle crash near Colborne.
Provincial police say the accident happened Wednesday evening when a BMW rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Highway 401.
They say the BMW caught fire and had to be extinguished by the driver of the truck, who was not hurt.
Police say the BMW driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while a small dog travelling in the car was rescued and taken to a local humane society.
The victim's name was not released.
Police say all eastbound 401 lanes were closed for several hours while they investigated the crash.
