After one of the hottest days this summer, the mercury is expected to fall back to seasonal values today. Environment Canada says the daytime high will be 24 C and will fall to a low of 14 C Wednesday night.

TRAFFIC

The eastbound Highway 401 is slow from Dixie Road to Allen Road. Westbound, the 401 is moving slowly from Morningside Avenue to Kennedy Road.

Southbound Highway 404 is slow from Van Horne Avenue to Highway 401, and the southbound Don Valley Parkway is slow from the 401 to Wynford Drive.

Further south, the eastbound Gardiner Expressway is barely moving from Windermere Avenue to Jameson Avenue, and westbound from Lower Simcoe Street to Strachan Avenue.

Lake Shore Boulevard is moving well.

Power back on after thousands affected by outage

The lights are back on for approximately 6,000 customers in east-end Toronto this morning after a contract worker damaged some equipment while digging Tuesday afternoon. Toronto Hydro says the impacted area stretched from Queen Street East to Danforth Avenue, between Main Street and Victoria Park Avenue. All power was restored shortly before 7 a.m.

Police investigating double shooting

Toronto police are investigating a double shooting that killed a 31-year-old woman and left a 25-year-old man in hospital with half a dozen gunshot wounds. The family of the woman has identified her as Jelena Loncar.

Police believe the man, who is known to police, was the intended target of the early-morning shooting that happened outside a downtown nightclub. Investigators say there were approximately 100 people at the club at time of the shooting.

After losing 11-7 against the Boston Red Sox Tuesday night, the Toronto Blue Jays will finish off their three-game series against the Red Sox tonight. Wednesday's game at the Rogers Centre starts at 7:07 p.m. ET.

Artscape Street Party

Toronto's Wychwood Barns will come alive this evening with high-flying circus performers, carnival games and fire dancing for the annual Artscape Street Party. The event will also offer a wide selection of circus-themed goodies, from cotton candy cocktails to Sugar Mamma donuts.
