Two pet pythons, a dog and a cat were rescued Tuesday afternoon after a fire broke out on the second floor of a Regent Park apartment.

Approximately 50 firefighters and more than a dozen fire trucks responded to the blaze in the Dundas Street East and Sackville Street area.

Toronto Fire Services say no one was injured, but a neighbouring apartment was evacuated due to the smoke. All the pets did not suffer any injuries.

Investigators say the blaze was likely sparked by an electrical problem. The fire caused minor damages to the apartment.

Animal control was called to collect the rescued pythons.
