A woman is facing two charges in connection to a fatal west-end pedestrian collision last month.

A 60-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee while walking across the intersection of Lakeshore Boulevard West and Long Branch Avenue at about 8 p.m. on June 18.

Toronto police said the victim, whose identity hasn't been released, fell to the ground and hit her head. She was taken to hospital and died the next night.

The woman became the city's fourth fatal pedestrian accident over the span of five days.

On Wednesday, police announced they have charged a 50-year-old Mississauga woman with:

  • Careless driving
  • Failing to yield to a pedestrian

The accused, whose name wasn't given, is scheduled to appear at the Old City Hall courts on Aug. 6.
